Wootford LeeRoy Orcutt, known to his friends and family as Woody, passed from this life surrounded by family on January 20, 2024, at the age of 74 in Hallett, OK.

Woody was born on March 31, 1949, in Edmond, Oklahoma, the son of William Leroy and Patricia Josephine (Justus) Orcutt.  Woody grew up and attended school in Terlton through the 8th grade.  He then transferred to Cleveland Schools, graduating from Depew High School with the Class of 1967.  Following high school, Woody began working in the home construction business and was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Ellen Sue Shipman in Terlton, Oklahoma, on June 10, 1967.  In February of 1969, Woody was drafted into the service of his country.  Woody was initially stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, before transferring to Bonn, Germany.  Specialist 4 Wootford Orcutt was honorably discharged in February of 1971.  Woody returned to Claremore, Oklahoma, and continued working in the construction business, later moving to Gage, Oklahoma, in February of 1972.   Woody later started his own business, High Plains Siding.  Woody and Ellen have owned and operated the company for the past 50-plus years.  They have worked throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas.  Woody always enjoyed being outdoors fishing and working.  He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need.  Spending time reading was also something Woody enjoyed doing.  Woody was a very active part of First Baptist Church Gage, where he was a youth leader and Sunday School teacher for many years.  Spending time with family was very important to Woody throughout his life.
