Virginia G. Smith of Sand Springs was born March 2, 1932 in Prue, Oklahoma to Clarence S. and Gladys (Pierce) Willson. Virginia was raised and received her education in the Osage Area. Virginia attended school and later graduated from Osage High School. Virginia was very active in the basketball program during high school.

Virginia was united in marriage in 1951 to Jack Goddard. They made their initial home in Osage, Oklahoma. Shortly after their marriage Jack entered the U.S. Army; during the Korean War and was killed in action. After the death of Jack Virginia remained in Osage and was later married to Jack Smith in Stillwell, Oklahoma on August 29, 1957. Virginia and Jack continued to reside in Osage until the early 1960ís. At that time they moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Virginia then accepted employment with Calumet Oil as a secretary. Virginia continued to work for Calumet Oil for over 37 years at her retirement in 2002 as a financial assistant.

Virginia loved fishing as well as camping, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Virginia was also a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Virginia passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 4 months and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Willson, mother Gladys Boone, first husband Jack Goddard, one brother James Russell Willson, and one great granddaughter Trinity Michelle Spalluto.

Survived by her loving husband Jack Smith of the home; one son Major James and his wife Sandy Smith of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; three grandchildren Krystal, Kalen & James Russell Smith II, two brothers Roy Boone of Hallett, Oklahoma; Clarence Sonny Willson of Gore, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 10:00 am in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will conclude in the Osage Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
