Remembering Lendal Bolin
August 25, 1940 – August 19, 2025
Lendal Bolin, beloved minister, counselor, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 19, 2025, one week shy of his 85th birthday.
Born August 25, 1940, Lendal spent his life in service to God and others, dedicating more than 50 years to ministry in churches across Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. Throughout his career, he not only preached and taught but also led with vision—helping congregations grow and embracing Unity and renewal. One of the most formative seasons of his ministry came during his years at the Garriott Road Church of Christ in Enid, Oklahoma. Lendal helped a small congregation of less than 100 people grow into a vibrant church of more than 800 members, built and paid for a new facility, and launched programs that reached into the heart of the community. The joy bus ministry brought more than 300 inner-city children to worship each week; their citywide benevolence program filled a small warehouse and distributed food and clothing to many families in need. These ministries reflected Lendal’s deep conviction that the Gospel must be lived out in both word and action. Lendal was known for his extraordinary knowledge of the Scriptures and gifting as a teacher. He could bring the Bible to life in ways that were challenging and transformative. Lendal’s influence extended far beyond his own lifetime. He led many people to a new relationship with Jesus. He mentored young ministers and leaders, instilling in them not only biblical knowledge but also the wisdom needed to lead with grace in the church. His gift for teaching left a lasting impact on congregations, students, and leaders across generations. In addition to his ministry, Lendal also devoted himself to counseling, founding Christian Counseling of Conway, Inc., and serving countless individuals and families as a licensed counselor. His work reflected his lifelong passion for God-centered relationships and reconciliation. Beyond his ministry and counseling, Lendal gave back to his community in many ways. He served as President of Kiwanis Club, founded the Historical Society in Enid, Oklahoma, served as an adjunct professor at the local university and even hosted a unique call-in radio show on KGWA. During the first half of the show, he answered listeners' car repair questions with humor and wit. During the second half of the show, he addressed questions about the Bible and spiritual issues of life. Lendal will be remembered for his sense of humor, his original thinking, his infectious laugh, his entertaining storytelling, his wisdom and guidance, and leadership in the church. He loved family gatherings, and he delighted in watching each new generation grow and have life-shaping experiences of their own. He is survived by his sister, his wife of 64 years, their three children and spouses, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of friends, colleagues, and church family, who will remember him as a man who believed in a Big God who does Great things. Lendal’s legacy will continue in the lives of his family, the churches he strengthened, the leaders he mentored, the families he counseled, and all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating his life and ministry will be held at 2pm on September 13th at the Sand Springs Church of Christ, 4301 South 113th West Avenue, Sand Springs Oklahoma, were family, friends, and all who were touched by his life will gather to honor his memory.
