Ronald Gene Wells

Ronald Gene Wells was born October 4, 1946, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Ledford and Lillian Wells. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1964. Ron was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968. During Vietnam he served as a helicopter crew chief and door gunner in the 20th Special Operations Squadron "Pony Express." He was awarded numerous service medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. Ron retired from American Airlines after 21 years.

After retiring from American Airlines, Ron served as Chaplain for eight years at the Baptist Retirement Community in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was a mentor in the Veterans Drug Court, a volunteer for Pawnee/CASA and for 10 years, he drove a stagecoach pulled by a team of Clydesdales at the Pawnee Bill's Wild West Show in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He was instrumental in starting and overseeing the Cleveland Area Food Pantry in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters Lavon Boeck and Pam Holt. He is survived by his wife, Linda of 42 years, his son Heath Wells of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, two daughters Karen Schoelen and husband Chris of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Kalyn Murphy and husband Rhett of Midwest City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Sgt. Samuel Schoelen of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Christian Schoelen, Kayden Murphy, Declan Murphy and Mac Murphy all of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Sage Love of Stillwater, Oklahoma
