Ronald Eugene Long passed from this life on October 10, 2023, at the age of 68, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

 

Ron was born on November 29, 1954, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the son of Don Leroy and Mary Lee (McKenzie) Long. Ron attended school in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Phoenix, Arizona. Ron joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Leonard F. Mason and the USS White Plains. Seaman Ronald Long was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star. SN Long was honorably discharged in San Diego, California, on July 18, 1975. After his discharge, Ron married Stephanie Lynn Holmes on October 23, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona. The couple established their initial home in Phoenix before moving to Perryton, Texas. During that time, Ron gained employment in the oil field with Ford Tool Service. In the early 1980s, Ron moved his family to Guthrie and began working with AEC Well Service. He also worked for several years in the Phoenix area in construction, and 1989, Ron returned to Oklahoma, where he continued to reside. On September 4, 2011, he was united in marriage to Annemarie Guilfoyle in Stillwater, Oklahoma, moving to Cleveland in February of 2021.

 

Ron was a huge wrestling fan and took his family to the live shows several times. He was big on family get-togethers and family dinners at Granma Jones on Sundays. Ron loved reminiscing about the old days and spending time with his brothers and sisters. Watching classic movies and westerns was also a favorite pastime for Ron. He had a funny sense of humor and is described as a man who loved God and his Country and was very kind, loving, caring, and giving. Ron also enjoyed outdoor fishing and would mow yards to travel to wrestling matches as a kid.

 

The survivors are his wife Annemarie of the home; seven children Chasidy Jenkins and her husband C.J. of Pawnee, Oklahoma; Ronald Long, II and wife Tyger Savage of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Jimmy Long and wife Mandy of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Jeremy Long of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Amos Huber and wife Crystal of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Huber of Atoka, Oklahoma, Patrick Huber of Claremore, Oklahoma; siblings Richard Long of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Gary Long of Yukon, Oklahoma, Melvin McBane of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Kenny McBane of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Keith Long of Kaw City, Oklahoma, sisters Sherlin Owens of Vallejo, California, Valerie McEuen of Phoenix, Arizona, Donella Barker of Kaw City, Oklahoma, Trina Mehojah of Guthrie, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Don Long; mother, Mary Chacon; and his siblings, Ted Long, Donald Long, and Michael McBane.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Memory Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
