Robert Martin

Robert William Martin, known to his friends and family as Bob (Papa Bob), passed from this life on December 17, 2025, at the age of 78 in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Bob was born on March 7, 1947, in Effingham, Illinois, to Roy William and Mary Alice (McKinney) Martin. Bob attended school in southern Illinois until he moved to Hominy, Oklahoma and began his freshman year of high school, graduating as part of the Hominy High School Class of 1965. During his time in high school, Bob met his soon to be wife, the love of his life, Sue Trim. The two were Buck King and Queen in 1965. In high school, Bob played football, participated in band (he was the drummer in a private band), basketball, and track. After high school, Bob attended Oklahoma State University, where he participated in the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Radiation and Nuclear Technology. On August 19, 1967, he was united in marriage to M. Sue Trim in Hominy, Oklahoma. The two moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and then to Los Alamos, New Mexico where Bob worked as a Nuclear Analyst and retired after 40 years from the Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2017, Bob moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma near his lifelong family friends, Jeannie and Hugh Wynn.

Bob and Sue for many years travelled throughout the world. Their favorite times were always with friends, family, and especially grandkids. During the time his kids were growing up, Bob was an active coach and never missed any events. Weekends were filled with adventures at the lake, playing horseshoes, and tailgating and football and more as longtime season ticket holders for OSU sporting events.

Survivors included his son Bret Martin and wife Christine, his son Chad Martin and wife Tyler, his son Jerod Martin and partner Greg Randolph, his sister Mary Pottorff, grandchildren Michaela and husband Colin, Hunter and wife Sierra, Kolby, Ridge, Colten and wife Anna, Karley and Kinsey, as well as one great granddaughter Maisy Kay and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sue and a brother Jim Martin.
