Randy Horton

Randy Gene Horton passed from this life on June 26, 2025, at his home in Osage, Oklahoma at the age of 65.

This world is occasionally blessed with men of extraordinary qualities. In Osage County, one such men humbly lived a quiet and peaceful life—Randy Gene Horton. Through both word and deed, Randy displayed a love that set an example worthy of imitation.

No matter who you were—whether a store clerk or his own kin—he extended love unconditionally. It could be seen in the twinkle of his eye, heard in the warmth of his voice, or felt in the calm reassurance of his presence. How fitting it is that he took his final breath in the same Osage County home where he had lived since the age of 18.

Randy’s home became a place that stood untouched by the rush of the world. As everything around us seemed to shift and race forward, time in Randy’s home stood still. It was a refuge of consistency, comfort, and familiarity to all who knew him.

He carried a deep reverence for creation and a heartfelt respect for the Creator. It was no surprise to find him outdoors, casting a line or perched in a deer stand, immersed in the quiet stillness of nature. He often reminded those around him to pause and truly see the beauty of the world around them. That gift—to notice and honor the wonder in everyday moments—was one of Randy’s most beautiful qualities.

Randy Gene Horton was born on July 12, 1959, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ralph “Gene” Horton and Alice Marie Pogue (Blankenship). Raised in Osage County, he spent most of his life in Cleveland, where he built deep roots in the community he cherished. He attended Cleveland Public Schools and went on to become a licensed plumber. After gaining years of experience with local companies, Randy founded Horton Plumbing, where he served the community faithfully for over four decades. Known for his quality craftsmanship and generous spirit, he was especially kind to widows—many of whom insisted on paying him with homemade pies.

Music was another constant in Randy’s life. Whether it was the kind that shook you to your core or touched your soul, music was always close by, reverberating through his home and heart.

Among his many passions, Randy held a lifelong love for classic cars. From the nostalgic beauty of a ’51 Ford to the raw power of a ’69 Camaro, he found joy in every gleam of chrome and roar of an engine. Randy is survived by his daughters: Ashley Buzzard, Autumn Denny, and Shanna Moore. He was the proud grandfather of Alyssa Bryant, Elijah Buzzard, Mina Buzzard, Rheagan Denny, Brayden Bledsaw, Cayden Middleton, and Emily Middleton. His great-grandson, Colter Bledsaw, also survives him.

He is also survived by his sisters, Teresa Pogue, Marsha Lamkin, and Diana Smith; his brother, Douglas Sawyer; and his step-siblings, Anna Edwards, Lisa Montgomery, Janet Wright, and Robert Pogue. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, including Jimmy Gramblin, Summer Baker, Sarah Williams, Amber Robbins, Josh Pogue, Lacey Stocum, Lindsay Smith, Dylan Cheek, Hayden Good, and Saydee Smith.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Pogue and Ralph Horton; his brother Raymond Horton; and his nephew Jeremiah Baker, along with many other cherished family members who passed before him.

"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good."

— Samuel Johnson
