Oscar Black, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at age the age of 92 in the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home.

Oscar was born September 27, 1915 in Chugwater, Wyoming the son of Walter and Jessie (Forbes) Black. At the age of three Oscar moved with his family from Chugwater to Minco, Oklahoma. In 1928, they moved to Greeley, Colorado where Oscar began his education. They soon returned to Minco, Oklahoma to the family farm where he attended the one room school Timber Ridge west of Minco, Oklahoma. They later returned to Greeley, Colorado where Oscar completed his education. Mr. Black was united in marriage to Fannie Mae (Turner) in Minco, Oklahoma. They established their intial home on the family farm in Minco later moving to Tuttle, Oklahoma in 1943. Oscar then moved to moved to California for a short time and returned to Minco in 1945. At that time he purchased a country store that he operated for 2 years, before purchaseing a Grade A dairy in Tuttle, Oklahoma. In 1956, he returned to Minco with the family and began helping them with the beef cattle operation. 1965, Oscar returned to California to the San Juan Bautista area where he was working on a farm building irrigation pumps and helping with the daily operations of the farm. On October 19, 1969, Oscar was united in marriage to Eva Delagrande in Carson City, Nevada. They made their home in San Juan Bautista and while residing there he was the director of the SPCA for several years. At his retirement in 1983, he and Eva moved to Osage, Oklahoma to be closer to his son and has continued to reside in this area.

Mr. Black enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes and cards. He was well known for his watermelons that he raised for many years.

Survivors are his son Dr. Ed Black of Cleveland, Oklahoma, sister Etta Black of Cleveland, Oklahoma, three grandsons Douglas Black of Midlothian, Texas, Phillip Black of Kaufman, Texas, Russell Black of Saginaw, Texas, seven great grandchildren; a cousin Larry Forbes of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two step daughters, Linda Cortez of California, Laura Bowman of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, eight step grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Jessie Black, one sister Nancy Black and his wife Eva.

Chapel Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 5, 2008 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. Burial will be held privately in the Osage Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
