Obituary

Omar Walden Jones Jr., a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and longtime resident of Cleveland, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, at the age of 78.

Omar was born in 1947 to Walden Omar “Buck” Jones and Marzella Faye (Mock) Jones. He grew up in the oil fields of Drumright, Oklahoma, where he developed the strong work ethic and dedication to family that would remain with him throughout his life.

Omar proudly served his country in the Oklahoma Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973, serving as an Armorer and Marksman and earning the Sharpshooter designation. He devoted much of his working life to the trucking industry as a Teamster, delivering bakery products for Rainbow Bakery. Outside of work, Omar enjoyed bowling and sport fishing, especially spending time on the water in pursuit of bass. He appreciated the quiet and relaxation that came with being outdoors. Later in life, he continued serving his community as a detention officer with the Pawnee County Sheriff's Office.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Caleb Jones; his daughter, Lori (Jones) Glimp; and his sister, Susan (Jones) Christian.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynne (Metheny Weaver) Jones of Cleveland, Oklahoma; his son, Bryan Jones of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Taileur Jones-Brown; his son-in-law, Eben Brown; and his cherished granddaughter, Chaya Brown, of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Daniel Christian of Drumright, Oklahoma; his stepchildren, Tracey Weaver and spouse Stacy Weaver, Ryan Weaver and spouse Alisa Weaver, and Roger David Weaver; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Omar will be fondly remembered for his cheerful nature, good humor, and unwavering love for his family. Though his passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those who loved him, his family across Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, and Florida will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

His life was a blessing to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
