Miles E. Vaughan

Miles E. Vaughan, lifelong Terlton area resident, passed away Friday, January 25, 2002 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa at the age of sixty-three years, ten months and eleven days.

Miles was born March 14, 1938 in Keystone, Oklahoma. He was the son of Hughie and Ema Rosalie Vaughan. He moved with his family at an early age to Terlton where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Terlton High School in 1956.

Shortly after graduation, Miles accepted employment with Flint Steel, where he worked for several years. He then established his own business operating a backhoe and other heavy equipment throughout the area.

Miles was married to Carolyn Alburty at Pawnee, Oklahoma on February 20, 1960. The couple established their home in Terlton and raised three sons, Randy, Ron and Rick. Miles continued operating and maintenance of his heavy equipment business until for health reasons he had to retire. He enjoyed working and spent countless hours daily repairing equipment or on jobs prior to his retirement. His love for the outdoors led him to a fondness for camping and four wheeling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Miles is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vaughan, of the home; three sons, Randy and Debbie Vaughan, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Ron and Debbie Vaughan, Mannford, Oklahoma; Rick and Sherlyn Vaughan, Terlton, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, brothers, Lavern Vaughan, Jennings, Oklahoma and Don Vaughan of Terlton. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at the Terlton Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Speck officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
