Lois Esther Sharpnack, 77, of Hominy, Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 11, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.


Lois was born March 13, 1946, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the daughter of Virgil "Mutt" and Mary Francis (Henton) Nichols. Lois grew up and attended school in Hominy, Oklahoma, where she later graduated with the Class of 1964. On November 10, 1968, in Hominy, Oklahoma, Lois was united in marriage to Dale Leon Sharpnack after they had met in front of the Pioneer Store while dragging Main Street. Lois and Pie established their home in Hominy, where they raised their two sons, Jim and Scott. Lois worked for many years at Cut and Curl as a hairdresser. She began working at Walmart as a cashier and was later promoted to the department manager. Following retirement from Walmart, Lois accepted a guest services position with Osage Casino and was employed at Marvin's Grocery Store until they closed.


Lois was very active in her community when she was growing up. While in high school, Lois was the first ever voted for the school spirit "Buck Pride Award," she was an Eastern Star member and Girls Auxiliary Leader at church and, for many years, bowled in the ladies league. Lois and Pie always enjoyed going to the Hominy Lake lot, fishing, and spending the evenings watching the sunset. She was also a sports fanatic. She loved all sports, especially the Baltimore Colts and the Baltimore Orioles, but most of all was a "Buck Fan." Some of Lois' favorite memories were going to Kansas City when she was five, going to the St. Louis Zoo, and attending Cardinals games when she was 13. Her favorite movies were The Sound of Music, Hallmark Christmas Movies, and Pretty Woman. Lois is described as a very generous, big-hearted, loving woman that was faithful and enjoyed helping others.


Survivors are her husband, Dale, of the home; two sons Jim Sharpnack and his wife Donna of Shawnee, Kansas; Scott Sharpnack and his wife Michelle of Arlington, Virginia; one brother Virgil Nichols and his wife Barbara of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one sister Janet Bode of Franklin, Indiana, three grandchildren Logan, Mary and Sutton as well as numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her sister Sarah "Liz" Swanson.


Services will be held 10:30 am Monday, April 17, 2023, at The First Baptist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Formby officiating. Burial will be held in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
