Judy Vance Caves passed from this life on December 20, 2025, at the age of 86 in Collinsville, Oklahoma.
Judy was born on July 5, 1939, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Lois (Vance) Thomas. Judy grew up in Cleveland and attended Cleveland High School, graduating from the Class of 1957. On October 2, 1957, Judy was united in marriage to John A. Caves in Hominy, Oklahoma. The couple established their initial home in Claremore. They also resided in Bartlesville, Henryetta, Tulsa, and Ardmore due to John's job. In 1977, the two moved to Collinsville, where they continued to reside.
Judy had a huge heart for children. She worked for many years at church nurseries where she made many friends. Judy always enjoyed working in the yard, growing beautiful flowers. Cooking was also something she enjoyed, as was collecting recipes. Judy would write letters and send cards to all of her friends and family, and she enjoyed going to the mailbox every day. Judy and John enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Colorado, Alaska, the Northeastern United States, and always enjoyed their weekend home on Beaver Lake. Judy is described as a sweet, happy lady, positive, with a great sense of humor, and always asks about how you are doing. Nan and Papa's home was always a wonderful place for the grandkids, with shooting fireworks, swimming, and baking Christmas cookies.
Survivors are her three children Kathy Wood and husband Clifton of Bixby, Oklahoma, Loren Caves and wife Cindy of Canadian, Oklahoma, Sue Ann Sills and husband Tim of Collinsville, Oklahoma; one brother Tommy Thomas and wife Barbara Jo of Angleton, Texas; grandchildren Johnathan Caves and wife Bryanne, Thomas Wood and wife Victoria, Andrew Wood and wife Courtney, Stuart Wood and wife Allison, Nick Sills and Brittany Conner, Molly Tillman and husband Malcolm; great grandchildren Evalynn, Remington, Magnolia, Conner, Chloe and Eleanor and a host of other relatives and friends.
