Joyce Ann
Barlow
Apr 24, 1949 — Jul 1, 2026
Joyce Ann Barlow passed from this life on July 1, 2026, at the age of 77, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Joyce was born on April 24, 1949, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Walter Clinton and Katherine Ann McPhail. She grew up and attended school in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School with the Class of 1967. Joyce was united in marriage to Paul Dean Gough, and together they established their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked for many years as a certified nurse's aide and spent a brief time working in food services for Keystone Schools. In the early 2000s, Joyce moved to the Cleveland area, where she made her home for the remainder of her life.
Joyce found great joy in the simple pleasures of life and in the people she loved most. She never passed up the opportunity to visit garage sales, always hoping to uncover a special treasure. A devoted animal lover, Joyce, cherished her dog and two cats, who brought her endless companionship and happiness. Blessed with a true green thumb, she delighted in growing beautiful flowers that brightened her home and yard throughout the seasons.
One of Joyce's greatest expressions of love was through her cooking. Her Friday night dinners became a cherished tradition, bringing together neighbors, family, and friends around her table. Whether preparing a home-cooked meal or enjoying her favorite steak, Joyce believed that food was best shared with those she loved. She also found peace in watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds that flocked to the feeders she carefully maintained.
Above all, Joyce treasured the time she spent with her family. She especially looked forward to visits from her sister, whose companionship meant the world to her. The laughter, conversations, and memories they shared, along with the precious moments spent with the rest of her family, were among the greatest blessings of Joyce's life. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the warmth she extended to everyone, fortunate enough to know her.
Joyce is survived by her three children: Walter Gough and wife, Patricia, of Bixby, Oklahoma; Wilson Gough and wife, Kelley, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Melinda Price and husband, Shawn, of Cleveland, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Pelletier of Springfield, Oregon; her brother, Eura I Southerland and wife, Michelle, of Surprise, Arizona; five
grandchildren, Mason Gough and wife, Rylee; Natalie Gough; Trevor Gough; Tylor Gough; and Amber Smith and husband Tanner; one great-grandson, Tanner Coyle Smith Jr.; and a host of other relatives, friends, and caregivers. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Juanita Winfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends and family may visit Joyce's online guestbook and memorial page at chapman-black.com.
