John Ramsay

John Robert Ramsay was born on February 12th, 1960, in Tulsa Oklahoma to Robert and Patricia Ramsay. John passed from this life on September 12, 2025 at the age of 65. John was the 2nd of 5 children and grew up in Tulsa. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and had the honor of attending the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch at the age of 14. The family moved to the Lake Keystone area in 1976, and he graduated from Mannford High School in 1979. He played tackle in football and played trombone in the band. He worked at R&D Foundry with his dad and brothers on the weekends, and then full time running the furnace room until 1989. He then worked at Valmont Industries in maintenance until 1995 where he started his trucking company, Ramsay & Sons Trucking. John was married to Lisa Smith from 1982 to 2008, and they had 2 sons, Billy and John. They moved to Jennings in 1989 and bought an 80 acre farm. Neither one knew a thing about farming, but it was such a beautiful place, it was perfect for two boys to grow up on. As the boys grew, John sold his truck and worked at Davco Fab to be home every night. He decided to go back on the road in 2003 and eventually expanded his business and added 3 drivers. He sold the business in 2008 and worked at Davco. He went back to trucking, a job he was proud of, until he had to retire due to declining health. John had a servant's heart and pride in his community. He severed on the Jennings Fire Department from 1990 until 2008, then moved to the Peninsula area, joining the Peninsula Fire Department, serving under Bob Sharp, his best friend, until his health declined. John's motto was "He was the man with the gear in the rear". When John wasn't working, he enjoyed everything Tulsa, from the Drillers baseball to the Oilers hockey games.

John is survived by "his boys" Billy Ramsay of Jennings, John and Kristina Ramsay of Maramec, Grandson Andrew Ramsay of Maramec. Siblings, Chris and Darlene Ramsay of Rolla, Missouri, Scott and Amanda Ramsay of Berryhill, Marc Ramsay of Jennings, Trish Wallace of Broken Arrow, and many more Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
