Helen Carolyn Vaughan also known to many as "Gus" passed from this life on May 18, 2026, at the age of 84, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Carolyn was born on March 16, 1942, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Grover Columbus and Helen Retha (Adams) Alburty. Carolyn grew up and attended school in Cleveland, Oklahoma. On February 20, 1960, Carolyn was united in marriage to Miles Edwin Vaughan in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The two established their home in Terlton where they raised their three boys Randy, Ron, and Rick. Carolyn worked at Ben Franklin, Cleveland Hospital as a nurses aide, teller at the Cleveland National Bank for many years. After retirement Carolyn worked as a secretary for Alburty Plumbing.
Carolyn always enjoyed going to Colorado and going shopping with Donna. Carolyn attended Terlton Baptist Church for many years. She also took many trips with groups and cruises. She like reading and loved animals.
Survivors are her three children Randy and Debbie Vaughan of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Ron and Debbie Vaughan of Mannford, Oklahoma, Ricky Vaughan of Terlton, Oklahoma, siblings Norma Tisher of Muskogee, Oklahoma, G.C. and Linda Alburty of Borger, Texas, Jim and Cathy Alburty of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Johnny Alburty of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Arthur and Robin Breeden of Terlton, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Miles Vaughan, sister Donna Davis, brothers in law Gary Davis and Tommy Tisher.
Services will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Terlton Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Watkins officiating services. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
