Gary ''Dwayne'' Gilbert, 54, Cleveland resident, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2003. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at the Community Pentecostal Church, south of Cleveland with Rev. Frank Goodman officiating.

Dwayne was born on October 20, 1948 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was the son of Robert Lee and Geraldine (Phillips) Gilbert. Soon after his birth the family moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma where he was raised and attended school. The family moved to Terlton during Dwayne's sophomore year, where he then graduated from Mannford High School in 1967.

Upon completion of his education, Dwayne joined the United States Navy and served a tour in the Viet Nam War. On July 29, 1967 he was united in marriage to Kay Fairbanks at Cleveland, Oklahoma where they established their home.

He worked all his years in Tulsa where he was a lead man before he was forced to retire due to his health.

Dwayne was an avid fisherman and hunter, where he once served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Cimarron Coon Hunting Club. He was a member of the Cleveland Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Kay Gilbert of the home; three children, Gary Dwayne Gilbert, Jr. of Oilton, Oklahoma, Lisa Kay Poole and her husband Harold of Hallett, Oklahoma and Justin Wade Gilbert of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Shelby Skye and Kelby Dawn Poole of Hallett, Oklahoma; mother, Geraldine Gilbert, brother, Larry Gilbert and sister, Danita Gilbert, all of Terlton, Oklahoma; brother, David Gilbert and his wife, Debbie of Cleveland; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
