Garrett Dean Haiflich

Garrett Dean Haiflich passed away on August 29, 2026, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born on April 29, 1938, to Irene Smart Haiflich and Ferman Haiflich. He grew up in Collinsville, Oklahoma. And then spent four years in Okinawa proudly serving his country as a Marine.

Garrett's spirit followed him into his work from the building industry, to Oklahoma State Parks, to the Conner Correctional Center in Hominy. After retirement he worked for 15 years at the 1st Bank in Hominy. In each place, he became known not just for his reliability, but for his warmth, humility and the way he treated people with dignity.

He loved traveling because he saw the Lord's handiwork in every horizon. He loved cheering for the Hominy Bucks, OSU football and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Garrett lived with gratitude, served with purpose and loved with a heart shaped by grace. His legacy is one of devotion, compassion and a quiet steadfast belief that God is good. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who were blessed to know him.

Survivors are his first and last wife, Linda Mattox Haiflich, his precious daughters, Rhonda Moe (Greig) and Robin Williams (Jon), brother Grady Gaylord (Margaret), sons Craig Roe and Kevin Haiflich Almy. Garrett was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Garrett was preceded in death by his mother Irene, father Ferman Haiflich, wife Patti Haiflich, sister Frankie Mount and his lifelong friend and brother-in-law Wendell Mount, daughter Angela and two great grandchildren Paislee and Bryndle.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday September 4, 2026, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00 pm prior to the services. Burial will follow in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
