Evelyn Rose Ingersoll's Obituary

Evelyn Rose Anderson Ingersoll

October 27, 1927 - February 11, 2026

Evelyn Rose Anderson Ingersoll , age 98, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Hominy, Oklahoma, entered eternal rest on February 11, 2026. She was born October 27, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Columbus Bartman Anderson and Myrtie Margaret Reed Anderson.

Evelyn was raised in Hominy and graduated from Hominy High School, where she was active in school band, Pep Club, and proudly served as Football Queen. On September 23, 1945, she married the love of her life, Wayne Ingersoll, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hominy. The two first met while working together at the movie theater concession stand - the beginning of a devoted marriage that spanned more than 62 years until Wayne's passing in 2008.

A talented beautician, Evelyn operated the Anderson Beauty Shop in Hominy for many years. She was well known not only for her skill but for the friendships she nurtured with generations of customers who cherished her kindness and conversation.

Faith and community were central to Evelyn's life. A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, she served as an elder and held numerous church offices. She was deeply involved in the Hominy community as a member of the Hominy Historical Society, the Hominy Alumni Association - which she led for several years - and as an original board member of Save Our Schools, later known as the Hominy American Legion. In recognition of her lifelong service, in 2021 she was honored with the Legacy Lifetime Award from the Hominy Heritage Association.

Evelyn treasured time with her family and especially enjoyed family holidays, a trip to Washington, D.C. with loved ones, Colorado vacations, and water skiing in earlier years. She also found joy in needlepoint, crafts, reading, and listening to big band era music, including favorites Guy Lombardo and Harry James.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Williams and her husband Butch of Vinita, Oklahoma; brother Don Anderson and his wife Micki of Oklahoma City; grandson Mark Smith and his wife Jan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces, Tami Spurgeon and her husband Chuck of Hominy, Oklahoma, Tonya Rosenbaum of San Antonio, Texas; nephew Jon Anderson and his wife Stephanie of Yukon, Oklahoma, great grandchildren, Justin Smith and his wife Anna of Dallas, Texas, John Lawrance and wife Emily of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two great great granddaughters Elise and Blair Lawrance as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ingersoll; her parents, Columbus B. Anderson and Myrtie Reed Anderson; and her brother, James Bartman Anderson.

Graveside services will be held at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life. The family suggests memorials be made in Evelyn's honor to the Hominy American Legion or a charity of choice.

Evelyn will be remembered for her gentle spirit, devotion to family and faith, and lifelong commitment to her community. Her legacy of service and love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
