Ed was born on September 3, 1957, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Robert Melvin and Carolyn Wardell (Denham) Lumly. He grew up in Sapulpa, where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1976. During his school years, Ed also spent time living in California and Texas, where he made many memories and lasting friendships.
While living in California, Ed was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts, developing a lifelong appreciation for nature, the outdoors, and helping others. Ed had a special love for animals and wildlife and could often be found outdoors caring for injured animals and tending to creatures in need. His natural ability to care for animals, along with his knowledge of medicine and healing, made him someone who friends and family frequently turned to for advice and assistance. Often serving as an unofficial veterinarian, Ed was always willing to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand.
Ed also had an appreciation for Smoke House Blues, which held a special place in his life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of the outdoors, his compassion for animals, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His unique knowledge, generous spirit, and the many memories he created will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors are three children Nick Lumly and his wife Christy, Ben Lumly, Becky and her husband Derek Campbell; two siblings Robin Lumly, Craig Lumly; seven grandchildren Chyna, Mason, Logan, Callie, Colton, Brielle, Owen; four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by his one sister Lisa Edwards.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm, October 24, 2026, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Edward at www.chapman-black.com.
