Douglas Horinek

DOUGLAS (DOUG) GORDON HORINEK 

Was born on Dec 5,1950 and met his Lord and Savior on Aug 28, 2025 at the age of 74. Doug lived in the Keystone Lake area with his companion Linda Persely. 

Doug was born to Richard Micheal Horinek and Lola Inez Horinek in Ponca City, OK. He was raised in Newkirk, OK where he attended school at St. Francis Catholic School then on to Newkirk High School. 

Doug met and married Kathy Huffman and together they had three children. Lori, Michelle and son Chris. They moved around a bit in the beginning while Doug found work as a ranch hand before settling on a farm in Hallett, OK where they raised horses, cows and many other livestock. 

Doug had many occupations before settling on being an electrician for Claude Neon Federal in Tulsa, OK for 38 years. Later Doug married Sheila Carper and the made their home in Sand Springs, OK. Sheila brought 2 daughters with her, Betha and Emily. Doug had many interests- dancing, bowling, estate yard sales, hunting, riding motorcycles, and later in retirement he loved showing his classic ’34 coupe in local car shows where he won many trophies. Doug also kept himself busy with buying and selling lawnmowers. He loved going on yearly sister trips with his six sisters. 

Doug never met stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He could sure talk your ears off. He was always there to help any of his family or friends no matter what. He rarely missed a Sunday call to catch up on daily life events. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you had a friend for life.Doug told many family members about an Arabian horse he had owned many years ago that he loved. The day Doug left this earth, his companion and best friend Linda had a dream that the Lord brought that horse to Doug. She said he rode into the sunset with the Lord wearing the biggest smile on his face.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Rick and Inez. Brothers, Mike Horinek, Randy Horinek, Jeff Horinek, Tim Horinek and Terry Horinek. Sister, Debbie Gardner. Grandson Mark Gaches Wife Sheila Horinek. 

He is survived by his children, Lori Gaches and husband Steve of Maramec, OK. Michelle Horinek of Cleveland, OK. Chris Horinek and wife Jenny of Cleveland, OK. Stepchildren, Betha and Dustin Burrell of Cape Coral, FL. Emily Frost of Cape Coral, FL. His sisters, Connie Engle, Pam Shire, Angela Mefford, Christa Greer and husband Ronnie, Tina Eckert and husband Dusty. 13 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grandchildren.
