IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae
Daniel
May 20, 1934 – January 27, 2026
Dorothy Mae Daniel passed from this life on January 27, 2026, at the age of 91 in Jennings, Oklahoma.
Dorothy was born on May 20, 1934, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sidney A. and Eula Luella (Davidson) Metcalf. Dorothy grew up in Chickasha and attended Pioneer High School, graduating as valedictorian. Following high school, Dorothy attended Hill's Business University. On December 27, 1952, Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald K Daniel in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The couple resided in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas before moving to the Marshall Islands. They returned to the US in December 1968. At that time, they lived in Missouri, Cheney, Kansas and later to Cherryvale, Kansas. She began working at City Publishing as a secretary in Independence, Kansas. In 1976, Dorothy and Donald moved to Terlton, Oklahoma. While living in Terlton, Dorothy worked at the Cleveland Middle School as a secretary until 1987. The two later worked as relief managers at Motel 6 in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma until the mid 1990's.
Dorothy enjoyed watching sports on TV, working in her yard, and cleaning. She and Don were huge Sooner fans. Her favorite shows to watch were westerns. She felt her greatest accomplishments in life were her 66-year marriage, building a home, raising three children and teaching adults to read. One of Dorothy's favorite memories was living in the Marshall Islands. Learning to do many things in this World while helping others brought Dorothy great enjoyment in life. Some of the most fun Dorothy had was doing activities with Don, but especially fishing for crappie. A couple of her traits were learning new skills while being obstinate at times. Dorothy's favorite scripture was Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Darrel and Sally Daniel of Jennings, Oklahoma, Debbie Samson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dennis and Angela Daniel of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Jared and Alicia Samson, Aaron Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Dominique Miles, Tirion Daniel, Torin Daniel and Tiergan Daniel; numerous other family, friends and former students that will continue to celebrate her life. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her two brothers, Dwight Metcalf and Paul Metcalf.
Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Dorothy at www.chapman-black.com.
