Doris Comer

     Doris Lee Comer formerly of Hallett, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the age of 91 years two months and six days.

     Doris was born on October 26, 1932, in Palco, Kansas. She was the daughter of Oscar and Marie (Kaba) Ninemire. Doris was raised in Plainville, Kansas, later graduating from Farmington High School. On February 17, 1950, Doris was united in marriage to George T. Comer establishing their initial home in Duncan, Oklahoma. Later in 1950, Doris returned to reside with George's parents while he was called to the service of his country. They resided in Alameda, California before moving to Farmington, New Mexico. While in Farmington Doris worked as a clerk at Piggly Wiggly. In 1960, Doris and George moved to Hallett, Oklahoma. In 1963, they moved to Arkansas before returning to Oklahoma in 1967. In 1988, Doris and George returned to Hallett where she resided until 2007. While living in Hallett, Doris served for many years as the town clerk and city treasurer.

     Doris enjoyed needlework and crocheting. She also enjoyed sitting down with any kind of book, especially a mystery or love story.

     Survivors include her children Lillie Jaffee, Janice Nabozny and husband David, George T. Comer, Jr. and wife Kim; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband George Comer; one son William H. Comer; siblings Orion Ninemire, Arvetta Karst, and Olive Nash.

     Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Dixie Bear Creek Cemetery with Wilbur Wooten officiating. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
