Donna Sue Brooks, longtime Cleveland resident, passed from this life on Monday evening, January 25, 2021 at her residence. She was 78 years of age. Donna was born August 3, 1942 at Bartlesville, OK to Belve Robert and Bonnie Rae (Parrish) Moore. She was raised and received her education at Bowring, OK graduating Bowring high school with the class of 1960 where she was valedictorian in a class of six. Donna was baptized at the Virginia Ave Baptist Church in Bartlesville. She was united in marriage on October 22, 1960 to Roger Milton Brooks in rural Osage County. They moved to Cleveland in 1970 from Tulsa. Her husband preceded her in death in August of 2019. Donna was a longtime member of Western Heights Baptist Church and retired from Cleveland Bank as a cashier in 2014, working there for 32 years. Some of Donna’s fondest memories were family holidays and dinners, as well as helping her many customers at the bank. She would say that her parents had the greatest effect on her life because they survived the Depression and World War 2. Donna enjoyed country and gospel music and loved gardening and feeding wild birds. Donna enjoyed the shear joy of simple things and wished she had spent more time traveling and visiting others and wished she had spent less time worrying about the future! Donna would like her family and friends to remember the good times and let go of the bad and know that she is at peace now.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include her daughters – Bonnie Bart and grandchildren Lane Bart & wife Alison and their children Jett and Morgan; Luke Bart & wife Courtney and their children Augustus and Ava; Lee Bart and children Baylee, Bella and Lucas; Lindsey Bart (deceased Nov 2017) and children Jacob, Macy & Madyson Cunningham; Katherine Cable & husband Steve and their children LaDonn & Brody Kennedy, their children Kaylee & Raylan and Johnny Ray & Deadra Cable and their child Braxton; Will Cable and Donna’s son – John Brooks and his son Matthew Brooks. Also surviving are sisters-in-laws and their spouses Etta & Gerald Clark, Alice Hasty, Carolyn & Jim Blatchford, Janice Moore, and Jackie Brooks. Also surviving are multiple nieces and nephews which made the holidays great. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, beloved granddaughter Lindsey and a brother Stanley Moore.
Memorial services for Donna will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Pastor David Head officiating. At her request, Donna is being cremated and the family will hold a private disposition later. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland.
