Donald Herbert Garrett

Donald Herbert Garrett passed from this life on June 1, 2026, at the age of 74 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

Donnie was born on January 4, 1952, in Hominy, Oklahoma, to Gene and Juanita (Fox) Garrett. He was raised in Cleveland, Oklahoma, where he attended school and graduated with the Cleveland High School Class of 1970. During his school years, Donnie was actively involved in athletics, playing football and competing in discus events, demonstrating the determination and competitive spirit that would characterize his life.

On February 26, 1972, Donnie married the love of his life, Janell Faith Warden, at Maramec Baptist Church. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Donnie began his career with Osage Oil, working as a mechanic in the company shop. Through his dedication, skill, and leadership, he advanced to the position of Shop Foreman and was among the final employees to remain with the company before its closure in the mid-1980s. He later continued his work in the oil industry with Ball Oil Company before pursuing his entrepreneurial dream. After purchasing his own truck, Donnie founded Donald Garrett, Inc., a transportation company that reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and commitment to providing for his family.

Donnie found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the people he loved most. He was an avid fan of football and NASCAR, and he took great pride in keeping his lawn looking immaculate. Music was a constant source of comfort, especially the timeless songs of the Gaither Vocal Band, which he enjoyed listening to throughout the years.

A devoted member and Deacon of Canyon Road Baptist Church, Donnie generously gave of his time and talents, spending countless hours helping with projects and tasks around the church. His faith, dedication, and servant's heart left a lasting impression on his church family.

Donnie also had a special love for animals, and the many pets he welcomed into his home brought joy and companionship to him and his family. At the end of the day, he could often be found relaxing at home, watching classic westerns or enjoying his favorite programs on TV Land, especially anything featuring John Wayne.

Some of Janell's most treasured memories were the long drives she shared with Donnie while he worked, simply enjoying the opportunity to spend extra time together. Their bond was built on love, companionship, and a deep appreciation for life's everyday moments.

Above all, Donnie was a devoted provider and a fierce protector of those he loved. He will be remembered as a strong man with an unwavering work ethic, a perfectionist who took pride in everything he did, and someone whose dedication to his family never wavered. His strength, generosity, and steadfast love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors are his wife Janell of the home; two children Jeanette Atkins, Jimmy Garrett (Terri), identical twin brother Ronnie Garrett (Glenda), one sister Vickie Tinsley (Claude); three grandchildren Hailey (Marvin), Ashton, and Julius (Baylea); two great grandchildren Elliott, and Elijah and a host of other relatives and friends. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Juanita Garrett.

Services will be held on 1:00 pm, Thursday June 4, 2026, at the Canyon Road Baptist Church with Pator Mike Peter officiating. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
