Funeral services for Janis Dixie Bartlett, will be held 10:30 am, Monday June 13, 2016, at the Woodland Cemetery with Gene Black officiating.  Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.  Friends and family may share a memory on Dixie’s memorial site at www.chapman-black.com.
 
Dixie was born January 11, 1935, in Cleveland, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of Carl Leland and Jetta Irene (Pierce) Raney.  Dixie was raised and received her education in Cleveland later graduating with the Class of 1953.  During her time in high school; Dixie was active in cheerleading as well as a part of the basketball team.  Following high school Dixie, attended school in Edmond at Central State University.  On August 27, 1954, Dixie was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Charles K. Bartlett.  Following their marriage, Dixie and Chuck moved to Norman, Oklahoma.  After Chuck graduated from college, the couple moved to Fort Gordon, Georgia.  They resided in Georgia for two years and then returned to Oklahoma and established their home in Tulsa where they raised their children.  In 1976, Dixie gained employment with Tulsa Public Schools as the secretary at Cooper Elementary.  Dixie worked there until her retirement in the mid 1990’s.
 
Dixie was very jovial and fun to be around.  She loved to laugh as well as making others laugh with her.  Dixie was always positive about things and never met a stranger.  One of her favorite things to do was shop.  Dixie also enjoyed going to movies and going out to eat.  She was also an avid Sooner fan.
 
Dixie passed from this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the age of 81 years old.
 
Survivors are her three children Chace Bartlett and his wife Anna of Owasso, Oklahoma, Barri Bartlett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brindi Risinger of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Ella Bartlett of Owasso, Oklahoma, Matthew Zuniga of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sydney Verrett, Trent Verrett and Samantha Webb all of Owasso, Oklahoma, Carly and Clinton Goin both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as well as many other friends and relatives that will mourn her passing.  In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Klein Bartlett.
