Obituary

Clifford E. Myers, known to his friends and family as Pete, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 78 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Clifford was born on September 6, 1947, in Livermore, California. Pete was the son of Van and Mary (Huff) Ballou. Pete grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attended school, and later graduated from McClain High School with the Class of 1965. After high school, Pete enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War and served two tours in Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, Pete was awarded the National Defense Service Meda, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Bronze Star, and a Bronze Star with V first Oak Leaf Cluster. Sergeant Pete Myers was with the 618th Engineer Battalion and 101st Airborne when he was honorably discharged from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on November 15, 1968.

Following Pete's discharge, he returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began working at Pettigrew and Son's Painting Company. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Pettigrew in 1970, and they established their home in Skiatook for many years. Pete later established Sunset Painting, which he operated for several years before accepting a position with American Airlines in 1990. On October 11, 2003, Pete was united in marriage to Cheryl A. Swan at the Eagles Nest Bike Rally in Mannford, Oklahoma. Pete worked for American as a mechanic for over 20 years before retiring in 2012.

Pete always enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, boating, and traveling. Pete and Cheryl traveled many miles on their Harley, attending many events. They were longtime season ticket holders for OSU wrestling and football. They traveled to numerous bowl games and wrestling events following the Cowboys. One of his favorite times was tailgating at Georges Stables. Pete was a practical joker who always enjoyed having a good time at your expense. Pete was a member of American Legion Post 1, a longtime member of TWA Local 514, Combat Vets, and Downed Bikers. Pete and Cheryl organized many Poker Runs for breast cancer patients, "Scooters for Hooters," and were also a part of the Oklahoma Honor Flights Tulsa Committee.

Survivors are his wife, Cheryl Swan of the home; daughter, Kiazanna Perigo of Skiatook, Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Dallas Swan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tara Marshall of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Tate, Dakota, Aiden, and Denver; four great-granddaughters; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Mary Ballou, and his siblings, Judy Edwards and Jim Myers, as well as his son, Tony Myers.

Services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Ft Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors.
