IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Lee
Kincaid
August 1, 1933 – January 25, 2026
Carol Echols Kincaid passed peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born on August 1, 1933, in Osage, Oklahoma to Thomas Echols and Ruby Kesner Echols, Carol's artistic spirit revealed itself early in her childhood. That joy grew into a lifelong passion that would define her life.
Carol became known for her exquisite hand-sculpted dolls and vibrant, detailed landscape paintings. While working as a postal carrier in Stillwater, Oklahoma, she pursued formal painting instruction, refining the talent that would bless so many others.
In her mid-forties, she married the love of her life, Don Kincaid. Together they built a life rich in art and adventure, eventually settling in Taos, New Mexico, where they owned a thriving art gallery showcasing Carol's paintings, her handmade dolls and American Indian artwork. Their shared love of beauty, travel and creativity shaped a life well lived.
Carol found endless inspiration in nature - in garden flowers, sweeping landscapes and the photographs she captured along the way. After Don's passing, she moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where she continued to paint and joyfully teach art to students of all ages.
Even after suffering a stroke in her early 80's that left her blind in one eye, Carol never stopped creating. With characteristic determination, she continued to paint and teach, make jewelry and put together countless jigsaw puzzles. Her life was a testament to patience and perseverance.
Carol's legacy lives on not only in her artwork, but in the family, she cherished and the many lives she inspired with her creativity and kindness. Her world was brighter because she painted it so -- and because she helped others do the same.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Tom and Ruby Echols; her beloved husband, Don Kincaid; her sisters, Bernice Mitts and Patricia Taylor; her brother, Dale Echols; her sons, Thomas Brandow and Gary Hill; and three great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her daughters, Kathy Moore (Jim) and Terri Turner, her sister, Linda Boutwell (Dan); twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a legacy of beauty that will continue to inspire for generations.
A graveside memorial service celebrating Carol's life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Osage, Oklahoma cemetery.
