Carlece Cowen

Carlece Cowen passed from this life on September 26, 2023, at the age of 90 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Carlece was born on September 23, 1933, in Mannford, Oklahoma the daughter of Carl Webster and Muriel Elizabeth (Boyles) Mitchell. Carlece grew up and attended school in Cleveland, graduating with the Class of 1951. As a young girl Carlece started competing in rodeos in the area as she got older, she rodeoed in many states including Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. She was also active in school sports and the band. On September 29, 1951, Carlece was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart G.E. "Gus" Cowen at the First Christian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. To this union there is a daughter Carla Winginroth, two sons Guy Robb and John Mitchell. Later in life she and Gus became active in buying, selling, breeding and running Thoroughbred horses. They have resided in several locations in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico due to Gus working in the oil field.

Survivors include her husband Gus of the home, two sons Robb Cowen of Salado, Texas, Mitch Cowen and his wife Shelley of Cleveland, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Carlece was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Carla, siblings Beverly Cox, Melba Jean Greenwood, grandson Gerad Cowen.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Woodland Cemetery with Chaplain Jimmy Foreman officiating. The burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
