Obituary

Bobby Charles Thomison passed from this life on June 20, 2026, at the age of 69 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bobby was born on May 19, 1957, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Charles and Evelyn (McWilliams) Thomison. Bobby attended school in Eunice, New Mexico until his Freshman year and then moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma graduating with the Class of 1975. Following high school began working operating heavy equipment building Skiatook Lake. After the completion of Skiatook Lake Bobby began working at Grand River Damn Authority. Bobby moved to Pryor, Oklahoma, in 1986 and worked at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Bobby worked for GRDA until he retired in 2025. He returned to Cleveland in March of 2025, where he continued to reside.

Bobby had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many memorable days hunting and fishing with family and friends. An avid deer hunter, he found great joy in the pursuit and the camaraderie that came with it. One of his proudest accomplishments was landing a record 21-pound stripper from the lower Illinois River using only a six-pound test line, ultra-light tackle, a feat that became a favorite story among those who knew him. Bobby was featured in the Oklahoma Game and Fish in August of 1987 for his accomplishment.

Bobby also had a lifelong passion for automobiles and motorsports. Whether it was a fast car, a classic project, or anything powered by an engine, he was always eager to tinker, build, and learn. His love of speed and performance extended to the local racing community, where he enjoyed following and participating in the excitement of 918 Street Racing.

Beyond his hobbies, Bobby treasured the time he spent with his son, especially attending concerts together and making annual trips to Rocklahoma. These experiences created lasting memories and reflected the close bond they shared. Bobby's adventurous spirit, enthusiasm for life, and love for family will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors are his sister Teresa Coggins and her husband Von of Cleveland, Oklahoma as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn Thomison and a son Bobby Thomison, II.
