Andy Adsit

Andy Lee Adsit, 58, passed away on April 18th, at his home in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Andy was born 13 May 1965 in Carmi, Illinois, to Jim and Judy (Megee) Adsit.
He was raised in Cleveland, Oklahoma, attending kindergarten in Hominy, then Cleveland schools through high school graduation in 1983. Andy was an athlete, involved in baseball, football, and wrestling. He won the 1983 Billy Vessels high school football trophy in his senior year. He was a member of the FFA, raising and showing sheep, and he was a member of the Student Council.

Andy graduated from Oklahoma State University with degrees in both History and Education. Opting to build his career with OSU, Andy became an IT Analyst and the manager of the IT department for the Wes Watkins building & International Outreach Colleges, where he also instructed both faculty and staff in computer technology. With two years of sick leave accrued, Andy retired from OSU in 2019.

Andy spent free time pursuing his love of photography, camping, and observing and communing with nature. He also enjoyed playing pool and disc golf and was a life-long fan of taking things apart to see how they worked. He enjoyed tracing his family lineage and could be found sporting his authentic McMurtry kilt. Andy often (only half-jokingly) asserted that he was considering purchasing bagpipes for entertainment during numerous family events. Attempting to brew his own mead, attending local theater productions, hosting informal parties (with great bonfires), engaging in spirited debate (always playing Devil's Advocate), attending any Medieval Fair within a day's driving distance, serving as a marriage officiant, and spoiling his dog, Bailey, filled much of his time. Spending time, however, with his son and daughter-in-law and his beloved granddaughter was the highlight of his retirement.

Andy was preceded in death by his father, Jim Adsit. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Hazen & Shelby Adsit, granddaughter, Emersyn Adsit, mother, Judy Adsit, brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Niki Adsit, and sister & sister-in-law, Julie & Michelle Whitman. He will be deeply mourned and missed by numerous extended family and friends.
