Following the service the body will be cremated and later interred in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Ted was born on April 16, 1934, near Jennings, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Theodore, Sr. and Mary Mae Tompkins Hewitt. As a young boy Ted grew up in Jennings and later moved with his family near Terlton. Ted attended school in Terlton until he was 15. He quit school and moved to Odessa, Texas and began working as a roughneck. At the age of 17 Ted joined the United States Navy with several buddies and served his country honorably. Ted worked as a Sea Bee and was also stationed at Guantanamo Bay. He also served in Newfoundland and San Diego before he was discharged. Ted returned to the Cleveland Area and gained employment at National Tank in West Tulsa during this time Ted also finished his high school education and graduated from Terlton High School. He was soon united in marriage to the love of his life Jo Ann Swan on October 28, 1955, in Cleveland at the First Christian Church. The couple established their initial home in Cleveland and later in December of 1955, purchased their current home. Ted later gained employment at Big Heart working in the oil industry. The company was soon purchased by Bow Pipeline before selling to Koch Industries. Ted continued working for Koch until his retirement in 1993. Following retirement Ted was able to do what he loved full time raising cattle and ranching. Ted worked nearly every day from sun up to sun down tending to his cattle or baling hay during the growing season. Ted loved to be outdoors and that is why he loved ranching and his daily job, he never took the easy way out it was Tedís way. He never considered working on the farm a job, because he really did love what he did. Ted had a wonderful sense of humor. He was kind hearted, respectable and one of a kind. Ted also had an ornery and stubborn side to him, but would without a doubt do anything for you if you were in need. His family and grandchildren were his life. Ted always enjoyed going to the kids and grandkids school activities and sporting events. Most of all in life Ted loved his family dearly.
