William Junior Seward

William Junior Seward of Jennings, Oklahoma, died Saturday, August 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Jennings, Oklahoma at the age of 85.

William was born March 27, 1932, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. He was the son of Willie Butler and Noma Lee (Womack) Seward. William was initially raised in Fort Cobb and later moved with his family to the Jennings area in 1938 where he attended schools in Terlton and Meramac and graduated in 1950 at Jennings. Following graduation, William worked in the oil field until he was drafted in 1953 into the United States Army. On April 18, 1953, William was united in marriage to Eva Louise Price. They started their family in Killeen, near Fort Hood, Texas. Following his discharge, William, Eva and Nancy returned to Jennings, Oklahoma. William was re-employed in the oil fields of Oklahoma. Then William accepted employment operating heavy machinery during the construction of Keystone Lake. After several years William began working in the Stillwater and Ponca City areas as a laborer. While in Stillwater became a carpenter employed by Tulsa Rig and Reel which later became Flintco Construction until his retirement in 1994. He was a 50 year member of Carpenters Local 943. Following retirement, William returned to work part time at Sodexo in Tulsa until retiring again in December of 2016.

William loved to be outdoors. Especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. Many have commented that William has one of the prettiest gardens in the country. William enjoyed time in Pagosa Springs, Colorado on the all male hunting trips and later hunting with his daughters and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time relaxing with his wife in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He looked forward to family reunions and his military reunions every year. William had a special love for his mother in law, Ola, during her final years tending to her every need. William was an active member of the Oilton Senior Citizens and a lifetime member of The American Legion Post 161. He has held his lifetime hunting and fishing license for many years.

Survivors are wife Eva of the home; three children Nancy Moore and Charles Berryhill of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sherry Collyar of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kevin Seward and Glenda Redmon of Jennings, Oklahoma; one brother Jim Seward of Olive, Oklahoma; one sister Norma Jean Traylor of McAlester, Oklahoma; six grand children and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his siblings Edwin Green, Eurphus Green, Laverne Gripe and Leona Dean.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Larry Calvert officiating. The children will conduct the memorial. Burial will follow in the Terlton Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 pm till 7 pm or online at www.chapman-black.com.
