Wanda Ree Huffman passed away in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on October 8, 2019, at the age of 84.
Wanda was born on December 21, 1934, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles George and Jesse Marie (Henson) Avers. Wanda attended school in Hominy where she later graduated from Terlton. Wanda was soon united in marriage to Duane Patton Huffman on May 18, 1954. Following Duane’s military service, the two remained in California later returning to Oklahoma in 1958. They established their home in Tulsa and later in 1959, moved to their current home. Wanda worked at home. Wanda worked at Louboyles Sporting Goods at 11th and Xanthus for many years. She also worked at Wal-Mart in the clothing department until she retired in the mid 1990’s.
Wanda enjoyed being with her family and taking trips with Duane. She likes working cross word puzzles, reading and cooking. Wanda also enjoyed country and blues music. Wanda was very knowledgeable of politics and enjoyed watching veteran shows on television.
Survivors are her two children David Huffman of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Pamela Carlock and her husband Jim of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, one brother Max Rogers and his wife Laverne of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Sylvia Neal of Columbus, Texas; grandchildren Michael Huffman, Genny Wilkerson, Will Huffman, Jonathan Jennings, Chris Carlock, Myrenda Carlock; ten greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents Wanda, was preceded in death by her sisters Geneviev Fieldcamp, Marjean Sparks, Loretta Kunard; brothers Donald Avers, Bob Avers, infant brother Jesse; half sisters Edna Mills, Helen Mills, Gladys McArthur and a half-brother Lloyd Avers.
Services will be held on Monday, 2:00 pm, October 14, 2019, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Roger Sheppard officiating services. Burial will follow in the Sinnett Cemetery. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Wanda at www.chapman-black.com.
