Vivian Beatrice Leake

Vivian Beatrice Leake went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Colonial Manor in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years nine months and ten days. Vivian was born July 5, 1921 in Newton, Kansas. She was the daughter of Oscar Telmar and Laura Viola (Powell) Faulkenbury. Vivian grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas where she later graduated from Cherryvale High School. During the times Vivian was not in school she and her sister Virginia would come to Cleveland to visit family. During her visits to Cleveland she met the love of her life Melvin V. Leake. Melvin soon entered into the service of his country. After his return Vivian and Melvin were united in marriage in Cherryvale, Kansas on November 24, 1944. They made their initial home in Florida and later returned to Cleveland, Oklahoma. Mrs. Leake continued to reside in Cleveland until 2010 when she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to her sister Virginia. During the time Vivian lived in Cleveland she was a very active part of the First Assembly of God Church. Vivian volunteered extensively at the church as well as at the election board. Vivian taught Sunday school for many years. She was an excellent teacher as well as very knowledgeable of the Bible. Vivian enjoyed the time spent with her family that she loved dearly. Survivors are her daughter Bonnie Chandler and her husband Mike of College Station, Texas; one sister Virginia Hopkins and her husband Paul of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Stacey Moore and her husband Gregg of Celina, Texas, Jonathan Chandler of West Monroe, Louisiana; two great grandchildren Jaxxon and Emersyn Moore as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Laura, father Oscar and her loving husband Melvin Leake on January 9, 2010. Church Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 18, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dan Edens officiating. A private burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
