Valerie Jean Humble

Valerie Jean Humble was born December 8, 1953 in Parsons, Kansas. She was the daughter of Gene Franklin Humble and Lillian Anita (Griffin) Humble. In the early 1950ís, Valerie moved with her family to Louisiana and then later returned to Parsons, Kansas after her father, Gene completed his military obligation. After returning to Oklahoma for a short time the Humble family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1959 where Valerie began her schooling. In 1979, Valerie moved with her family to Cleveland where she resided as she continued her education at Cleveland schools. Her mother, Lillian was instrumental and a strong advocate of developmentally challenged children and adults; a condition that Valerie had. Through her commitment to the developmentally disabled, Lillian was a fonder of the Cleveland Community Service Center which Valerie attended and worked in for many years. In April 2003, Valerie was accepted into the family of Rev. Dean and Susan Switzer who have continued to provide her love and care for the past eight years until the time of her passing on April 21, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, Wyoming. Valerie was often described as an extremely friendly and loving person. She loved going to church and never met a stranger; considering you a friend immediately after meeting you. She was also a very giving person and was said that she would give you anything she had, except for her cheeseburger. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Gene Franklin Humble and Lillian A. Humble. She is survived by her brother and his wife, James and Julia Humble of Cleveland, Oklahoma; a sister and husband, Vicki and Brian Miller of Enid, Oklahoma; one nephew, Kelby Kinman; four nieces, Heather Udall, April Neinhuis, Amber Pinkston, Jamie Humble; her extended family, Rev. and Mrs. Dean Switzer, of Wansutter, Wyoming and their children; and a special friend who assisted in her care for many years, Gail Lay. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April April 26, 2011 with Rev. Dean Switzer officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the directin of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
