Twyla June Norrid

On Saturday, December 31, 2005 Twyla June Norrid went to be with her Lord and Savior, whom she faithfully served.

Twyla June Norrid was born on September 4, 1930 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jessie Wade and Hattie Katherine Moulder. She was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1948.

Twyla was united in marriage to Bob Fred Norrid on August 9, 1953. In 1968, the Lord called the Norrid family to Cleveland to begin a new church. The Norrid's and three other families worked and visited until they saw the start of the Lake Area Free Will Baptist Church. The couple were members and faithfully supported this church for nearly twenty-years. On December 13, 1998, Twyla was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Cleveland where she has continued to be a faithful member.

Her service to her Lord included meeting the needs of everyone she met. If it is true you send building materials to heaven by the good deeds you perform, Twyla will live in one of the largest mansions in heaven.

Twyla retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 after delivering mail for twenty-two years. Her employment at the post office involved far more than delivering the mail. It also involved meeting the specific needs of her patrons; from hand delivering the mail to the elderly on icy days, to taking her famous chicken and dumplings to the sick.

Twyla's favorite pastimes included Sunday dinners with the family, watching the cardinals at her numerous bird feeders, and planting a garden. She loved to serve her community by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army and taking care of the babies in the church nursery.

Twyla was the type of person who always put others first. She always touched the hearts of others, even in dying she impressed the nurses attending to her.

Preceding her in death was her husband of forty-seven years, Bob; mother and father, Hattie and Jess Moulder; brother, Glen Moulder; sisters, Jessie McConnell, Mabel Lee Collins and Bethel Reeves.

She is survived by four children, Linda Howard, and husband, Robert of Claremore, Oklahoma; Dale Norrid and wife, Kathy of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Phillip Norrid and wife, Sherrie of Cleveland, Oklahoma; and Betty Alvarez and husband, Joe of Olympia, Washington; sixteen grandchildren, Natalie Gorman, Rachel Cortes, Thomas Howard, Joshua Norrid, Eric Howard, Scott Brothers, Kyle Norrid, Jessica Norrid, Jamie Norrid, Julie Norrid, April Alvarez, Joe Michael Alvarez, Mandy Camus, Chris Eitel, Cameron Eitel and Bryce Eitel; eight great-grandchildren; brother, James Marcel Moulder of Columbia, Missouri; two sisters, Anna Cloud of Brownwood, Texas and Jackie Rae of Alfred, Ontario, Canada.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Cleveland with Dr. Larry Wilson and Marcel Moulder officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Scott Brothers and Barbara McGuire. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Howard, Kyle Norrid, Scott Brothers, Joe Michael Alverez, Chris Eitel and Cameron Eitel. Burial will be at the Dixie-Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
