Therman Lassley

Therman Dagwood Lassley was born March 25, 1927 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Albert Austin and Roxie Delmona (Patterson) Lassley. He was raised in the Cleveland area until 1939 when his family moved to Skiatook. Therman graduated from Wildhorse High School in 1945. Therman was also know to his family as Curley.

Shortly after graduation, Therman was inducted into the service of his country in the United States Army. He served honorably during World War II being released from active duty on December 20, 1946.

Upon his dicharge from military service, Therman attended Oklahoma A&M where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He met the love of his life, Eva Faye Williams in 1956 in Oklahoma City. After a several month courtship the couple was married on December 16, 1957 in Chandler, Oklahoma. The couple resided in Stillwater for a short time, while Therman was completing his education. They moved to Wichita, Kansas for a couple of years when Therman accepted employment with Boeing Aircraft Company. In 1962 they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where Therman accepted employment with the engineering department of the Arkansas Highway Department. Therman and Eva moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1971 and Therman continued to work in highway construction engineering, accepting employment with the State of Arizona.

Therman was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with all his family but he expecially cared for his loving wife, Eva. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2000 after forty-three years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Therman was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Wanda Ringle and Shirley Allen.

Therman passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at his home in Phoenix at the age of seventy-eight years, one month and sixteen days. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 16, 2005 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Nielson officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.

Therman is survived by four children, James Lassley, Phoenix, AZ, Shelley Lassley, Wittmann, AZ, Rana Gable, Glendale, AZ and Tamara Spanelli, Goodyear, AZ; two brothers, Herman Lassley, Skiatook, Oklahoma and Glen Lassley, Yale, Oklahoma; five sisters, Dorothy Posch, Independence, Kansas, Alice Thomlinson, Dallas, Texas, Gladys Rizhaupt, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Beverly Lassley, Cleveland, Oklahoma and Lexi DeMario, Washington; three step-children, Neal Norton, Sulphur Springs, TX, Donna Riley, Wakita, OK and Karen Lowder of Lawrence, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
