Terri Gay Day

Terri G. Day passed from this life on August 31, 2019, at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Terri was born on September 4, 1959, in Durant, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Samuel Robert Harper and Helen Sue (Waller) Smith. Terri attended school in Oologah/Talala later graduating with the Class of 1977. During her time in school, Terri was active in basketball, band and was also a flag girl. Following high school, Terri accepted employment with Phillips 66 in Bartlesville. Terri worked there until the early 1980’s when she moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma and started with Osage Oil. Terri began working for Cleveland Public Schools in 1999 as the high school computer teacher and also worked as the high school librarian. In 2016, Terri retired due to health reasons.

Terri always looked forward to summer vacations. Fishing trips to Canada, hunting for gold as well as hiking in Colorado were always memorable times. Going to Branson to the Sight and Sound Theater to see the Bible stories were also a favorite. Several times Terri and Sandy spent vacations on a cruise, going to South Padre and once for a two-week trip to Yellowstone National Park. However, the times with her children and grandchildren were the most important times that Terri had. There was hardly ever a time that Terri didn’t talk about her grandchildren. Terri was always a very positive, happy, loving, and sly jokester. Terri has been a member of the Terlton First Baptist Church for the past ten years.

Survivors include her two sons Toby Lee Day and Tucker Wayne Day both of Cleveland, Oklahoma; three siblings Rob Harper and his wife Elaine of Talala, Oklahoma, Dusty Harper of Talala, Oklahoma, Sandy Harper of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Talan Christopher Day and Harper Lee Day as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. Terri was preceded in death by her father Sam Harper, mother Sue Smith and stepfather Jerry W. Smith.

Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Terlton, Oklahoma with Pastor Justin White officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Terlton Cemetery with Chapman-Black Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
