Teresa Lynn Lay

Teresa Lynn Tisher Lay was born on November 22, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lewis D. and Clara Jeane (Carter) Tisher. Teresa was raised and attended school in Cleveland, graduating with the class of 1972.
Shortly after graduation, Teresa was married and had three children, Kefni, Kevin and David. She has been a lifelong Cleveland area resident and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the County of Pawnee, State of Oklahoma.
Teresa was described by her family and friends as a strong and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was faithful, compassionate and caring. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and received her most happiness from spending time with them. She loved getting the family together at holiday time whether it be the 4th of July, Thanksgiving or Christmas; making each person feel loved and special. Teresa especially enjoyed attending the Carter/Dunn family reunion.
She spent countless hours watching the Young and the Restless and ensured that the DVR was programmed such that she could watch the program without commercial interruption.
Teresa was a faithful Christian woman who accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age; attending the First Baptist Church in her early years. Later she became involved in the Grace Gospel Church in Jennings and then the Western Heights Baptist Church in Cleveland. On one occasion she traveled to Suriname in South America, assisting with a mission project in that country in conjunction with the Grace Gospel Church.
Teresa was married to Preston Lay, Sr. on June 2, 2006 in Cleveland. They have made their home in Cleveland for the past thirteen years. The couple enjoyed traveling and spent many enjoyable times visiting the Grand Canyon, Royal Gorge, Mesa Verde, Painted Desert and much of Colorado. She also enjoyed taking trips to Branson, Missouri.
Teresa was an Oklahoma State University Cowboy Basketball fan and also enjoyed Cowboy football. She liked listening to contemporary Christian music; especially MercyMe and Casting Crowns.
She passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the age of sixty-five years, five months and twenty-seven days.
