Tamarra Kaye Sweeden, "Tammie" passed from this life on February 18, 2021 at the age of 76 .



Tammie was born on October 21, 1944, in Tell City, Indiana the daughter of Richard Joseph and Ruth Hazel (Hartz) Minnette. In 1962, Tammie graduated from Rex Mundi High School in Evansville, Indiana. Following her education Tammie gained employment at General Tire and Rubber in Evansville. In 1982, Tammie moved to Hominy, Oklahoma and worked as a Correctional Counselor at Dick Conners Correctional Center. While working at Dick Conners she met Odis Mack Sweeden. The two were later united in marriage on December 7, 1989. In 2005, Tammie retired after 23 years.



Tammie enjoyed going to yard sales, always searching for that diamond in the rough. She also liked making Kahlua for her family and friends. Tammie loved buying gifts for everyone, throwing birthday parties, bingo, working puzzles, following Facebook, reading romance novels and spoiling her lap dog, Goob. Cheering for her children and grandkids at sporting events or making a day trip to find the perfect fried pickles never grew old for Tammie. Everyone who met Tammie always felt like she was their second mother or grandma.



Survivors are her husband Mack Sweeden of the home, son John Paul Weber of Henderson, Kentucky; three daughters Julie Alvey of Evansville, Indiana, Teresa Sartore and her husband Tim of Evansville, Indiana, Sandra Balentine and her husband Jerry Dean of Hominy, Oklahoma; two brothers Michael Minnette and his wife Debbie of Evansville, Indiana, Dick Minnette and his wife Ann of Covington, Indiana; sister Beth Ann Snipes of Winslow, Indiana; grandchildren Megan Weber, Madison Weber, Jamie and Dustin Valois, Nicholas Tinsley, Tara Beth Lammers, Kyle and Nina Nance, Victoria and David Thurman, Chelsea Weber, Sydney Shipman, Brooklynn Shipman; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Tammie was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Ruth Minnette, her brother John Paul Minnette and her furbaby Bandit.


A Celebration of Life event will be held at the Sweeden residence. It will be a come and go event on Saturday, February 27, 2021, starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will be held at a later date in the Osage Cemetery. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
