Stanley Allen Hicks, 66, passed from this life on September 8, 2019, in Houston, Texas. Born September 1, 1953, in Seminole, Oklahoma, Stan was the son of William “Bill” Hicks and Verena Mae (Blaylock) Hicks. Stan was raised and received his education in Cleveland later graduating with the Class of 1971. During his time growing up he was active in basketball and baseball. Following high school, Stan attended Oklahoma Christian College. Also, during that time in 1970, Stan was united in marriage with Carolyn McAffrey. The couple resided in Edmond and had two children, Nicole and Kelly. Stan later began working with Humpty Foods. After many years with Humpty, Stan and his father Bill opened Hicks IGA in Mustang, Oklahoma in the 1980’s. Following a downturn in the economy Stan moved to Wichita, Kansas gaining employment with Fleming Food. On August 5, 1983, Stan was united in marriage with Cathy Knol and to that union there are two children, Tony and Elizabeth. Stan worked for Fleming Foods as sales representative until he retired In 2011.

Stan was an avid sports fan; his sports teams were the Oklahoma Sooners, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. He was constantly listening to the radio, tuned into the Sports Animal in Oklahoma City on AM 640. Kathy and Stan loved to travel, taking cruises especially to Cancun, Cozumel or any place in Mexico. The family would always take vacations and go snow skiing in Colorado or New Mexico. While in Breckinridge on a ski trip he met one of his favorite actors Chevy Chase. His favorite old TV shows, Stan would often recite them verbatim. Stan loved his kids and especially his grandkids. Stan was a music buff and always enjoyed playing name that tune while listening to music.

Stan is survived by four children Nicole Hicks of Pearland, Texas, Kelly Hicks of Pearland, Texas, Tony Hicks of Wichita, Kansas, Elizabeth Hicks of Grove, Oklahoma; one brother Steve Hicks of Houston, Texas; one sister Anne Boyett of Midwest City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Aaliyah, Aiden, Holden, Izy, Jameson, one great-grandson Jaxton. Preceding him in death are his parents Bill and Verena Hicks, wife Cathy Hicks and one brother Tony Hicks.

Visitation will be held for Stan on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 12 noon till 2:00 PM at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Mark Bearden will officiate the service. Stan will be laid to rest in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.chapman-black.com.
