Shirley June Nimerick Hager was born June 9, 1943 in Yale, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bill and Elma (Sneed) Nimerick. Shirley grew up on a farm in Pawnee County and attended Star-A-Star grade school. She later attended Pawnee Schools, graduating from Pawnee High School in 1961. Upon graduation from high school, Shirley attended Northern Oklahoma A&M in Tonkawa where she obtained an associates degree in Business. Shortly after completing her college classes, Shirley accepted employment at the Pawnee County Court House working for the County Superintendent. On September 30, 1964, Shirley was married to Lester "Tate" Hager in Miami, Oklahoma; to this union were born three children, Justin, Jason and Hollie.
