Samuel Ray Horton passed from this life on December 21, 2021, at the age of 64 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Samuel was born on October 15, 1957, in Hominy, Oklahoma he was the son of Melvis and Helen (Wooton) Horton. Samuel was raised and received his education in Prue where he began kindergarten until his junior year. Samuel completed his Senior year in Scottsdale, Indiana. He joined the Texas Army National Guard for Eight years. Samuel moved to Amarillo, Texas and gained employment at IBP Meat Packing plant. Samuel later moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in the 1990's where he owned and operated his own construction company. During that time Samuel was united in marriage to Vera. Following the death of Vera, Samuel returned to Osage County where he worked as a local carpenter. During his time in Hominy Sam worked for Whited Construction for over five years.

Sam always enjoyed fixing things and repaired numerous guitars. Sam is described as a very hard-working man and could fix anything. He had a big heart always willing to help others.

Survivors are siblings Ellen Gray of Amarillo, Texas, Douglas Horton of Hominy, Oklahoma, Angela Oglesby of Kentucky, Virgil Traster of Prue, Oklahoma, Jerry Winkcompleck of Tye, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his father Melvis Horton, mother Helen Winkcompleck, wife Vera, brother Wayne Horton, two sisters Regina Wells and Jill Westfall.
