Sammy Macy, of Hominy, Oklahoma died at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday, March 5, 2009 after a lengthy illness at the age of 80. Sammy was born in Hominy, Oklahoma on November 8, 1928 to J.T. and Ida Sizemore Macy. Sammy grew up in Hominy, where he attended school. HE was baptized in the First Baptist Church on October 20, 1940, where he was a faithful member until his death. Sammy enlisted in the United States Navy on April 12, 1946, and was honorably discharged on February 20, 1948 with the rank of Seaman Second Class. He also joined the National Guard of Oklahoma and was also honorably discharged on May 9, 1957, with the rank of Sergeant E-5. Mr. Macy was a heavy equipment operator and supervisor on pipelines through out the United States. He also worked in Nicaragua and Canada. Sammy was an avid golfer and won many trophies for his accomplishments. He enjoyed the game until his health prevented him from playing. Sammy is survived by his daughters, Sandra Little of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Linda Hirsch of Vivian, Louisiana; three grandchildren Shawn Hirsch of Cypress, Texas, Ricky Million and Melissa Little of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one great grandson Daemian Little; cousin Ancil Davis and his wife Sue of Hominy, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Sammy was preceded in death by a infant son Michael Dwayne Macy. Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Hominy, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Formby officiating. Private burial of the cremated remains will be in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
