Ruth Lorene Adams

Ruth Lorene Adams passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 91. She was born on October 9, 1921 in Chetopa, Kansas to Heratio James and Laura Anna Bell (Lee) Gwin and had six sisters and one brother. Ruthís family moved to Cleveland in 1932 where she graduated from high school. After her marriage to Floyd Adams, they moved to Chase, Kansas. In 1942 they moved to Richmond, California where Ruth worked as a welder in the shipyards during World War II. She and her family subsequently moved several times between California and Texas and Oklahoma. They returned to Cleveland in 1992. After Floydís death she moved to Lakewood, Washington to live with her daughter, finally returning to Cleveland in 2005. Ruth loved being a homemaker, attending church, camping with her family as well as spending time in her large vegetable and flower gardens when they lived in California. In her later life, she became a night owl and found she loved the computer. She was featured in the Cleveland newspaper emailing family and friends and she started working on family genealogy. Ruth loved learning and always kept abreast of news stories and could speak to events going on around the world. Her religious interests were varied and many and she kept in contact via email with her Christian friends and through websites across the country as well as never missing her religious programs on television. She read the Bible religiously and took pleasure in giving to others. She always had a positive outlook on life and cared about the wellbeing of others. Ruth was a powerful prayer warrior who loved to witness for the Lord. Wherever she went there was never a missed opportunity to bring a lost or wandering soul to Jesus. Ruth is survived by her son, Richard Lee Adams and daughter-in-law, Lyn Adams of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Ronda Kay Young of Lakewood, Washington; sister, Virginia Miller of Cleveland, Oklahoma, eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Adams, five sisters, one brother and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Chapman-Black Funeral Home with officiating by Reverend Rick Griffith. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
