Ruby Mae Adams Brown was born in Davenport, Oklahoma on April 16, 1927. She was the only daughter of N. R. and Martha Mattie Ann (Pryor) Adams. Ruby attended school in a one room, Rural #61 School, south of Davenport, Oklahoma. Later she attended Alameda High School in Oakland, California and then returned to Davenport and graduated from Davenport High School in 1945. Ruby enjoyed music from an early age and was a member a girl's vocal quartet while in high school.

Upon graduation from high school, Ruby accepted employment at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City as a teletype operator. She was married to Raymond C. Brown on June 19, 1947. The couple had three children, Gary L., Suzanne Marie and Valerie Ann. Although Ruby primarily devoted her life to being a housewife and mother, she was employed for nearly five years for Kirkpatrick Supply in Ratliff City, Oklahoma, as a bookkeeper and for the First National Bank in Chandler and Peoples National Bank in Kingfisher.

Ruby accepted Christ as her personal savior while in junior high and has been active in church ever since. She once served as Sunday School Superintendent, as well as a Sunday School teacher; additionally she enjoyed singing in the choir. Although she was a member of the Baptist Church most of her life, she was a member of the First Assembly of God in Hominy at the time of her death. She also was at one time active in the young mother's club and Harmony Sewing Club in Davenport and was involved for many years with the Hominy Hospital Auxillary. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, singing and teaching her children to play the piano. She learned to play on her mother's old fashion pump organ.

Ruby passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of seventy-nine years, five months and twenty-eight days. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Eldon K. Adams, Leo R. Adams, Glendal P. Adams, Donald Adams and Jimmie Dale Adams, PHD.

Ruby is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Raymond Chester Brown of the home; son and his wife, Gary Lee and Janet Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Charles Wickersheim of Winter Haven, Florida and Valerie and Philip Stewart of Edmond, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Michael Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Fitzwater of Tampa, Florida, Matthew Fitzwater of Orlando, Florida and Kevin Stewart of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaugther, Heather and grandson-in-law, David Rogers of Edmond, Oklahoma and two great grandchildrenn, Tristan Michael Brown of Richmond, Virginia and Aubrey Nicol Rogers of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the First Assembly of God Church in Hominy with Pastor Clifton Phelps officiating. Burial will be at the Davenport City Cemetery in Davenport, Oklahoma under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
