Roy Lee Masters was born March 6, 1929 in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of twelve children of William N. and Lula F. Masters. He moved with his family at the age of seven to Cotton Center, Texas where he received some of his education. They returned to Cloud Chief, near Del City, in 1942, where he received the remained of his education. Roy learned much about taking care of machinery and farm equipment while working with his family on a farm during his early childhood.

After completion of his schooling, Roy entered into the service of his country, shortly after the end of World War II. He served as a Staff Seargent in the United States Army Air Corps from 1947 until 1950. Upon his honorable discharge, Roy moved to the Panhandle of Texas where he operated a propane truck for a while. He then accepted employment with Meither Machine Works as a machinist in the early 1950's. He continued to work as a shop foreman for Meither until he moved to Alaska in 1965. In Alaska he operated his own machine shop for nearly ten year before relocating to Tyler, Texas in 1975. In 1976, Roy opened his own machine shop in Corpus Christi, CME Machine Shop. He ran this shop for nearly six years when he retired in 1982. He remained in Corpus Christi until 1985 when he moved to Owasso, Oklahoma.

Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting and moved to Cleveland in 1992 in order to be near Keystone Lake. He was married to Virginia Grantham on December 1, 1995 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Roy passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the age of seventy-four years and thirteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Tom, Jess, Edgar, and Kenneth, three sisters Florence Fenn, Zola Lovell, and Ethel Driver; grandson, Jesse Meabon and a granddaughter Darrah Grantham.

Roy is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; four sons, Mark and Eileen Grantham of Hominy, Oklahoma, Kent Grantham of Wichita, Kansas, Paul and Tonya Grantham of Hominy, Oklahoma, Stephen and Marcia Masters of Orange, Texas; three daughters, Marla and Merle Meabon of Seattle, Washington, Sandra Mullholand of Iowa, and Debora and Hector Molina of Garland, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Everett Masters; three sisters, Gladys Hail of Hale Center, Texas, Fern Shollebarger of Fresno, California and Frances Ketron of Richmond, Indiana;

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
