Robert Benjamin Hall

Robert Benjamin Hall was born September 30, 1926 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Leonard Ethan and Edith (Billie) Hall. Bob was raised and attended school in Cleveland where he graduated from high school in 1944. During the summers while attending high school, Bob worked for his uncle in the wheat fields of Kansas.

Shortly after graduation from high school, Bob entered into the service of his country in the United States Army Air Corp on February 11, 1944. He served honorably during World War II, receiving his discharge on September 30, 1946 and then returned to Cleveland.

After working in Tulsa for a short time, Bob accepted employment with the Johnson Oil Company at the local refinery in the pipeline division. When the company sold in 1956, Bob began a long career with Kerr-McGee Corporation. He was initially hired as foreman for the pipeline division in Cleveland. Bob was married to Shirley Ruth Morris on June 9, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The couple made their initial home in Cleveland until 1959 when Bob was transferred to Seminole as foreman of the pipeline division there. They remained in Seminole until 1962 when Bob was again transferred; this time to Sapulpa. After a few years in Sapulpa, Bob was promoted in 1967 to District Superintendent for Kerr McGee's Wynnewood operational area. In 1976, the couple moved to Cushing when Bob was named District Superintendent for the Drumright Division. He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1991, after thirty-five years with the company.

Bob's devotion to his job and employer was evident in his desire to have everything in his control operating efficiently and effectively. Although his work was truly life, Bob still found time to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing. He applied annually for a permit in Wyoming for big game hunts. In 1992, Bob shot a shot a trophy elk in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma and seemed satisfied with retiring from hunting at that time. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed taking his family and their friends on vacation. He also liked attending family reunions and reminiscing with his sisters and their families.

Bob passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at his home in Cushing, Oklahoma at the age of seventy-eight years, one month and twenty-eight days.
He was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, Jerry Ray Hall, Richard (Dickey) Hall, and Alvin Thomas Hall; and a daughter, Anita Sue Hall Haber.

Bob is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Shirley Ruth Hall, of the home; daughter and her husband, Melissa and Don Amon, Cushing, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Zach and Zane Amon, Cushing, Oklahoma; five sisters, Anna May Brown, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Joy Underwood, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Martha Strand, Casper, Wyoming, Marie Keeling, Cleveland, Oklahoma and Nancy DeLay of Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland with Don Amon officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army.
