Rex Leroy Nutter

Rex Leroy Nutter Sr. passed away on April 15, 2022, at the age of 81 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Rex was born on March 17, 1941, in Seneca, Kansas, the only son of Otis Rex and Leila Melissa (Wilsoncroft) Nutter. Rex grew up in Canton, South Dakota, later moving to Lawndale, California where he graduated from Leuzinger High School with the Class of 1959.

Rex married his high school sweetheart, Mary Geneze Robison, and went on to continue studies at El Camino College. He worked at Northrop Grumman as a manager in the quality control department, retiring in 1996 after 33 years. Following his retirement, Rex moved to Cleveland, Oklahoma and accepted a position with DeComp Composites. He later founded Nutter’s Corner, which included a few small businesses in Cleveland, that he operated until his passing.

Rex was a baseball coach for many years, loved technology, hunting, working in his shop, and keeping in touch with friends and family on Facebook. He always loved being around his family, especially his grandkids. He was a father figure to more than just his own kids.

He is survived by his three children Rex Nutter, Jr and his wife Tamara of Torrance, California, Randal Nutter of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Sonya Nordby and her husband Dusty of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister Sandy Fleming of Rancho Cucamonga, California; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Rex was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Leila Nutter and sister Lee Kowalski.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Western Heights Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Johnny Wagoner. Friends and family may visit an online guest book and memorial page for Rex at www.chapman-black.com.
