Funeral services for Patsy Ruth Cook, will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home. Patsy was born July 27, 1934, in Texhoma, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Albert Lee and Edith Ann (Hayworth) Miller. As a young girl Patsy grew up in Texhoma, later graduating from Texhoma High School with the Class of 1952. Following graduation Patsy worked at a local drug store. On September 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Billy Ray Smith. The couple lived in many places throughout Oklahoma before moving to Collinsville in 1967. Following the death of her husband Billy in 1971, Patsy remained in Collinsville. Later being introduced to Billy C. Cook, the couple was united in marriage on October 10, 1975. The couple established their home in Cleveland where she has continued to reside. Patsy would often help Bill after they started their real estate company in the office. She would take calls as well as help with the paperwork associated with the sales. Pat loved to sew, work in her garden, feed the birds and grow flowers. She was also a wonderful cook and the reason her grandson entered into culinary school. Vacations usually revolved around going to visit relatives. Patsy was a woman that would embrace whatever life brought her with a smile. During her times of sorrow she remained steadfast in her faith. Patsy has been a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She has been described by her family and friends as very classy and strong willed. Patsy was also very humorous and always appreciated a good laugh. Pat passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of 79 years, eleven months and fourteen days. In addition to her parents Pat was preceded in death by two husbands Billy Ray Smith, Billy C. Cook and a stepson Dan Cook. Survivors are her daughter Melody Hudspeth and her husband Tim of Richardson, Texas; two stepchildren Terry Cook and his wife Lynn of Florence, Alabama, Dave Cook and his wife Jan of Cleveland, Oklahoma; five siblings Danny Lee Miller of Keyes, Oklahoma, Janice Ann Sorrell of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Alma Jean Slaughter of Amarillo, Texas, David Ray Miller of Austin, Texas, Albert Rex Miller of Texhoma, Oklahoma, six grandsons Zachary, Jacob, Clint, Ben, Jefferson, Chris, three granddaughters Codi Lynn, Amy, Audrey; two great grandchildren Jackson and Libby as well as a host of relatives and friends that will mourn her passing.
